Purpose of the LEA Self-Assessment
The LEA Self-Assessment is based on NIRN’s District Capacity Assessment Links to an external site., SWIFT’s Fidelity Integrity Assessment (FIA) Links to an external site., Michael Fullen’s Coherence Framework Links to an external site., and other key research-based elements around six key components LEA/Districts need to have in place to support systems change. The six components are:
Shared Beliefs, Vision, Mission
- Teaching, Learning, & Assessment
- Leadership & Governance
- Professional Development for All
- Infrastructure Alignment
- Clear & Collaborative Relationships
LEA/Districts use this tool to self-assess their level of implementation of each of the six components which are broken down into three subcomponents. The descriptors under each subcomponent help LEA/Districts determine its current level of implementation based on the Indicators of LEA Support.
LEA Self-Assessment Indicators of Support
Notice there are no numbers and no rating scale. The intention is not to achieve a high or low score; the goal is continuous improvement.
