Clearly defined components and practices are a prerequisite for sound implementation. The next activity will help you identify the core components or essential functions of your evidence-based program and/or practice.

A focus on results is not just about test scores. A results focus means asking, What is our GOLD Standard for Success?

What do we want to achieve?
What are the outcomes we are aiming for?

Without fidelity of implementation we have a tendency to keep adopting new programs and initiatives, never stopping to ask about the outcomes we are seeking to achieve.

Activity - Create a Practice Profile:

Select a Priority and a Practice
Statement of Practice: Operationally define what the program/practice would “look like” if you were to observe the instructional or behavioral practices being used as intended in the school or classroom.
Elements: Identify what steps are necessary (purchases, personnel, resources, training, sequence of events) for implementation and sustainability.
Notes: include any useful notes to support follow-up actions.
Action Steps: Include any due dates, who is responsble, follow-up, etc.

Once a program/practice is described in sufficient detail, effective implementation methods can be applied to develop the competency of staff to do the new way of work, to use data to continuously improve, and to ensure that leadership and administrative practices are supportive of the expectations.
