Key elements

Practice profiles provide an opportunity for educators to document the specific information so that an instructional practice can be implemented as intended. While much of this is up to the teacher and school site and not the paraprofessional, as part of the team it is important to know about structures that might be put in place and protocols that might be followed.

The Practice Profile template includes:

- The priority area

- The specific instructional practice(s)

- A statement of the instructional practice (i.e., description)

- The necessary elements that must be in place

- Notes

- Action steps

The priority area:
- Foundational Reading Skills
The specific instructional practice(s):
- Universally screen ALL students and flexible grouping to provide appropriate supports

A statement of the instructional practice (i.e., description):
- Utilize Acadience Reading (formerly DIBELS) to assess ALL students, analyze results, develop a plan to provide a continuum of support based on student need, provide support based on student need
The necessary elements that must be in place:
- Purchase DIBELS universal screener resources
- All stakeholders are trained on how to administer DIBELS
- All stakeholders are trained on how to interpret the results
- All stakeholders are trained on how to develop a plan to provide instruction based on DIBELS results
- Appropriate personnel are available to administer DIBELS to ALL students 2 times per school year
- Master schedule allocates time to administer DIBELS
- PLC time is allocated for DIBELS results' analysis and lesson planning to support student need
- Master schedule specifies when explicit direct instruction will occur to support student need
