CA MTSS logo Proactive & Culturally Relevant

This section will focus on making specific connections to your role as a paraeducator.  All students are general education students first. Regardless of your role in education, ALL educators serve ALL students. This pathway will allow you to make connections to your specific role in order to support the students you serve.

The role of the paraeducator is so varied and diverse that it would be impossible to address all contingencies and possibilities in this pathway. As you read through each section, apply what you are reading and learning to your specific role and circumstances.

The objectives of this section include the following:

    • Deepen Understanding of:
      • High Leverage Practices (HLPs)
      • Culturally Linguistically Relevant Teaching
      • Social-Emotional Learning
      • Universal Design for Learning
    • Understand Approaches to Learning
    • Identify Equitable School Structures

In the Foundations section of the CA MTSS Certification Course, you discovered the important features of the Whole Child Domain: Inclusive Academic, Behavior, Social-Emotional Instruction, and Mental Health.
