Data Elements - School Counselor Pathway [Activity]

CA MTSS logo Review Supplemental Support

Mission 2 had you reflect on the curriculum, activities, and resources your school counseling program has in place to support all students at the universal level. Ensuring an inclusive and engaging universal support system maximizes your time as a school counselor; freeing you up to perform the roles and responsibilities required within the ASCA core curriculum.

However, what systems does your school counseling team have in place when a student needs more? Ask yourself,

    • Are you using formative assessment to determine student success or are you using summative assessment data to determine student interventions?
    • Are there Pre-Determined and Pre-Planned data elements in place that inform stakeholders when a student needs more?
    • Do students have to wait until the classroom teacher identifies them for interventions?
    • Are families informed about criteria and/or procedures that qualify students for supplemental (Tier 2) support?

PencilData Elements - Activity

Using the continuum of support you started in Continuum of Support [BADGE Activity] review the curriculum, activities, resources, and or tools you placed in the supplement (Tier 2) and Intensified (Tier3) levels of support. Determine the Pre-Determined/Pre-Planned Data Metrics for each intervention.

Below are examples of data elements to help guide your delivery of supplemental and intensified services. Remember to revisit each data point to identify when interventions need to be intensified or discontinued.
