Strengths-Based Approach [Reflect]
Leverage Strengths to Promote Change
CA MTSS utilizes a strengths-based approach. Too often, as educators, we focus on what isn’t working and we introduce new programs and practices to try and fix it. Instead, CA MTSS asks you to stop, take time to analyze data to identify what is working well in your school and LEA, and then leverage those strengths to make improvements; these become area(s) for opportunity. A strengths-based philosophy begins by asking questions.
Strengths are . . . "the wisdom, knowledge, successful strategies, positive attitudes and affect, best practices, skills, resources, and capabilities of the organization." (Whitney & Trosten-Bloom, 2010, p. 64) |
